The apex court , today while hearing CBSE plea, lifted the ban on declaration of results imposed by the Madras High Court. The Supreme Court said that High Court cannot interfere with the Medical Examination schedule as it is violating the schedule for medical education fixed by it in a 2011 judgement.

Sources told CNN-News18 that the CBSE would declare the results in a few hours.

"In view of the above, the interim order is stayed and it is directed that the authorities concerned will proceed further with declaration of results for the NEET UG 2017 examination subject to decision of this court," the bench said while listing the matter for further proceedings after summer vacation.

Maninder Singh, representing the CBSE, had told the apex court that questions were definitely different in some vernacular languages from English or Hindi but the level of difficulty was the same. He also reiterated that the questions were kept different so as to protect the interest of a large part of the students if the paper gets leaked.
